Every time I travel back to Jersey and NY for a week or few days in the winter, miraculously a warm front sweeps through. I know, it's great for all the people that live here permanently, but I am looking for snow! Like, kind of a lot of snow. I can't complain too much because my snow wish did come true last Thursday, but the snow soon disappeared and I am now left with temperatures barely cold enough to warrant a hat and gloves. Well, I am forcing the gloves and hats because how cute is this pair of Kate Spade gloves, Ann Taylor coat, Cara hat, and Melrose and Market boots!? I keep my winter coats at our parents home in NJ. Outerwear along with shoes is my weakness and there isn't even close to enough room in my Miami closet for all the faux fur and wool jackets in my collection. This leopard beauty was next in queue in the NJ closet and boy was I happy to wear it. This may be my last trip up north this winter so I'll have to squeeze in some other favs before I leave this Friday! xo RCN
South Pointe Weekends
Zach and I have been making a point to take advantage of our beautiful surroundings. Every Saturday or Sunday we make our way down to South Pointe Park in Miami Beach. We live only a few minutes away by foot (when running). It's a great way to get Ethel some exercise and the view is unbeatable. The pathway bordering the park runs from the Biscayne Bay where the Miami Beach Marina is, all the way around the bottom of Miami Beach and to the east side beaches and Atlantic Ocean. I wore my walking shoes and pants on this past visit. No roller blades or spandex for me! I chose to wear my Soludos which are comfortable, but note if you order them online, they do not come in half sizes and tend to run a little small. The Gap jumper I wore is incredibly comfortable and the pockets are the best part. My necklace is from a small gift shop at the resort Z and I stayed at on our honeymoon in Mexico. The hat is Steve Madden from Marshalls. This upcoming weekend I will be skipping the park and heading to Jersey, can't wait! xo RCN
Outdoor Movie Night
This past Sunday marked the chilliest South Beach has felt in a while. I was headed to an outdoor movie with my girlfriend, Colleen, so I happily pulled out some extra layers and, finally, put on some booties that are not open toe. My Toms booties have a super soft foot pad on the interior, which makes them great for walking.
One of my absolute favorite trends for 2017 is "The Brooch". It's not just about pins like the ones you see at Urban or other fast fashion stores, it's all about beautiful, ornate, bejeweled, and intricate pieces of art that accent your clothing. This jacket from Topshop (few seasons old) was screaming for a little pop on the lapel. I was giddy to pull out my vintage toucan brooch. Though, I am more bundled than usual in Miami, I still love adding tropical touches to my look. It feels appropriate with all the palm trees and lush green surroundings. I found this piece at a small antique store in Old Quebec City. I am partial to vintage animal brooches- my fav!
My ripped denim is also a Topshop find. The Leigh fit is my go to jean. Before walking out the door, I grabbed my J. Crew Edie bag to contrast all my neutrals. Sadly, this bag is no longer available at J.Crew, but you can still find a few colors on Poshmark, or shop The Cambridge Satchel Company for a look alike.
Oh, and we saw "Amy", the documentary about Amy Winehouse. It was rather sad, but very well done and insightful. If you are a fan, or even not, I recommend! xo RCN
