What to do on a "some what gloomy and it might pour" kind of day? Definitely museum it. Just across the bay less than a few miles from our home is an architectural splenda that houses world renowned works of arts, ever changing exhibitions, and bodes a magical blue and green view of jungle like gardens and the Biscayne Bay. I absolutely heart the Perez Art Museum Miami.
I always find museums to be quite cold, don't you? Time to put something on my legs I haven't in months, jeans! My A. Golden ripped jeans are perfect for occasions like this when I don't need to be overly formal with the denim and it's a good cross for cold indoors and warm outdoors. A small cross body bag, my mean green Celine, is also a must when I need to be hands free. I didn't touch the art of course, but there is an amazing gift shop in the PAMM, as well as restaurant cafΓ© that screams your name for a cocktail or coffee after a visit. I need two hands for all of that. When the weather is nice, the back deck overlooking the water is perfect to hang and enjoy your drink with friends. The sun did come out this day, Yay! So that is exactly what I did, but back to the real reason for visiting the museum.
Through mid October the PAMM is running an exhibition "Basquiat: The Unknown Notebooks". The collection of work includes hundreds of the artist's creations, focusing on the words and drawings from the many pages of five of Basquiat's notebooks. When studying his way of thinking and placement of phrases, letters, and markings on a page I have to think he was a genius. The works inspired me to further my understanding of the Brooklyn artist. I decided to watch the Netflix documentary "Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child". I highly recommend the documentary along with visiting the PAMM exhibit. Hurry, Go! xo RCN
